Candle Burning Tips
CANDLE CPR:
Candle placement and continuous burn times impact candle performance (drafty rooms, near heavy foot traffic, near vents, etc.). From time to time you may need to help your candle.
- Every time…Before burning your lard candle, trim the wick to 1/4 inch in length for best results.
- If your wick is struggling to stay lit, extinguish the flame and let the wick cool. Then safely remove a little wax. Wax removal methods are not limited to pouring it out in a safe manner, scooping it out with a disposable spoon, using a paper towel to soak up some wax.
RECOMMENDED BURNING TIME:
I recommend burning your lard candle no more than two hours at a time. This allows the melt pool to cool down and the wick to rest. It will help the wick perform better over the life of the candle.
COMPLETE MELT POOL:
I recommend burning your lard candle until the melt pool reaches the edges of the container. This helps prevent candle tunneling and wick drowning.
***DO NOT BURN YOUR CANDLE ONCE THERE IS ONLY 1/4 INCH OF WAX REMAINING. DOING SO CREATES A FIRE HAZARD.***
